Obstetrical (OB) ultrasound uses sound waves to create real-time images of a baby during pregnancy. This lets the doctor check on the baby’s growth and development and monitor the mother. We use the latest in GE Logiq E9 ultrasound technology with 3D image capabilities.

About this procedure

Accordion Block v2
  • During the ultrasound, you will lie flat on your back. The sonographer will put gel on your lower abdomen (middle of your body). We use an ultrasound transducer to look into your body and see your baby. Sometimes we may do a vaginal ultrasound to get more information.

The exam will take about 45 to 90 minutes.

    OR
  • Please drink 24 ounces of water 30 to 45 minutes before your exam to make sure you have a full bladder. It's also helpful to wear loose fitting clothes to make it easy to reach your abdomen.

    OR
  • Schedule your OB ultrasound by calling the OB department or the diagnostic imaging department.
