The Polyclinic Ultrasound Department offers general ultrasound studies at several of our Seattle clinic locations. Study areas include the abdomen, liver, gallbladder, kidneys, thyroid and prostate.

Our Specialty Services

We also offer Doppler ultrasound, a special technique used to study blood flow through vessels, arteries and veins in the abdomen, neck, leg and arms. A doppler ultrasound can give physicians more information about blockages to blood flow, narrowing of blood vessels, tumors or congenital malformations.

What is ultrasound?

Also known as sonography, ultrasound is a type of imaging technique that produces real-time images of your organs in motion. It is a highly versatile tool that can be used without radiation. During an ultrasound, high-frequency waves are sent through the body. We use special equipment to record when the waves bounce off internal structures.

Images produced by ultrasound can help physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions, and investigate symptoms with internal organs such as pain, swelling and infection. Ultrasound can also be used to guide biopsies and other minimally invasive procedures.
