FDA-approved treatment for submental fullness

The Polyclinic Plastic Surgery department is among the first in Seattle to offer a new prescription medication—Kybella—to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below a patient's chin.

The active ingredient in Kybella is deoxycholic acid, a naturally-occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. The medication is administered in a series of non-surgical injections that destroy fat cells, reducing submental fullness, also known as a double chin.

Pin-point, fat-fighting accuracy

Kybella is a new option for patients looking to reduce fullness under their chin caused by weight gain, aging, or simply DNA. After the series of injections is administered (usually in two to four office visits) the fat cells are destroyed and cannot store or accumulate any new fat.
