Each year during open enrollment, many patients ask us about Medicare options. We encourage patients on any healthcare plan to take the time to review their plan for any changes in coverage, convenience or costs. Below are common Medicare Advantage questions that our patients ask.

Why does the Polyclinic prefer Medicare Advantage?

Patients are healthiest when they receive the right care, at the right place and the right time. Our Medicare Advantage patients benefit from a strong model of care focused on staying healthy through preventive care, a dedicated patient advocate, referral coordination and other programs. We are very adept at administering these plans and have been doing so for more than 18 years.

Do Medicare Advantage plans cost more?

Medicare Advantage plans can be less expensive in overall costs than the fee-for-service model of Original Medicare. Medicare Advantage plans can offer low or zero premiums. These plans often have set copays to help you budget costs. Our contracted Medicare Advantage plans include an annual out-of-pocket maximum and can include additional benefits such as prescription drug coverage, vision, dental, worldwide emergency coverage and an annual physical.

Does the Polyclinic still take Medicare?

We continue to accept Original Medicare for current Polyclinic patients across primary and specialty care. All of our specialists accept new Medicare patients, and some primary care physicians do too. Please check with the provider’s office directly to ask if he or she accepts new Original Medicare patients. If you are a current patient, your provider will continue to accept your health plan.
