  • Bronchospasm evaluation
  • Lung volume measurement
  • Airway resistance

A patient may be referred to the pulmonary function laboratory for evaluation of baseline lung function measurement, detection of suspected pulmonary disease, assessment of a known lung disease and any progression, surveillance of occupational related disease, monitoring of effects of therapy, and pre-operative evaluation. Patients considered for Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing include those with:

  • Unexplained dyspnea
  • Symptomatic exercise intolerance
  • Need to chart the course of cardiopulmonary disease
  • Need for evaluation of treatment
  • Assessment of physical fitness

The pulmonary division provides test interpretation and consultation with the referring physician as needed.
