Dr. Kelle R. Shutter earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin. She attained further training in pediatric medicine at the Phoenix Children’s Hospital/Maricopa Medical Center Pediatric Residency Program. She has worked in pediatric urgent care at both Phoenix Children’s Hospital and Seattle Children’s Hospital since completing her training.
“I had always anticipated a career in veterinary medicine until I gained some real life experience with it early in college and realized it wasn’t the right choice for me. I read a book entitled, 'The Man who Mistook His Wife for a Hat' for a psychology course and was inspired to pursue a career as a neurologist, and began to prepare to apply for medical school. My choice was affirmed during a year working as a certified nursing assistant. Once in the clinical years of medical school, I realized that the rotation where I looked forward to going to work, no matter how long the days, was pediatrics. I’ve never looked back!”
Dr. Shutter’s clinical interests include general pediatrics, newborn and infant care, early childhood development, breastfeeding medicine, and the treatment and prevention of injury and illness.
Dr. Shutter enjoys many outdoor activities with her husband and two children including hiking, camping, and gardening. She also enjoys spending time with her six pets, cooking, and making soap.
“I believe very strongly in the importance of practicing evidence-based, cost-effective medicine. I adore my patients and enjoy working with their families to keep them as healthy and happy as possible. I strive to be the type of pediatrician I want for my own children.”
