Career Influence

“My mother was a nurse and taught nursing in her early years. I was always interested in health care. After my undergraduate education at Johns Hopkins, I worked in the emergency department and found my passion through taking care of patients. I continued to pursue my graduate training in public health, doing research in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) immunology. My graduate research mentor at UCLA School of Medicine encouraged me to pursue my career in clinical medicine. I followed my passion and am glad that I did.”

Practice Philosophy

“I practice evidence-based medicine and focus on patient centered medical care. I am an advocate for empowering patients with knowledge so they are engaged in their own medical decision making processes and become active participants of their care and wellness. Medicine and the health care delivery system have become increasingly complex over the years. As a result, implementing a team-based care approach in clinical practice has become important to many physicians, including me. This way, we can focus our attention on providing compassionate, high-quality, and efficient care to patients and their families.”
