The Polyclinic Rheumatology department recently added Percy Balderia, MD to its team of physicians. Dr. Balderia starts seeing patients on Monday, July 30, 2018. While primarily seeing patients at the Madison Center location, Dr. Balderia will also be available on Tuesday mornings at The Polyclinic Downtown location in the Medical Dental Building.
Dr. Balderia joins The Polyclinic after completing his rheumatology fellowship at the University of Washington School of Medicine. He received his medical degree from the University of the Philippines Manilla College of Medicine, where he was valedictorian, magna cum laude. Dr. Balderia completed his internal medicine residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, Penn.
Dr. Balderia’s practice interests include rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, Crohn’s disease/ulcerative colitis-associated arthritis, gouty arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and poly/dermatomyositis.
“Choosing rheumatology is one of the best decisions I have ever made,” Dr. Balderia shared. “On a daily basis, I develop lasting relationships with my patients and help them manage their conditions long-term. Thanks to recent therapeutic breakthroughs, rheumatologists can have a tremendous impact on patients and better prevent disability than ever before. This field energizes me because even while our understanding of diseases has vastly grown, there is still a lot we do not know. I enjoy guiding patients through these uncertainties.”
Outside of work, Dr. Balderia enjoys spending time with family, cooking, hiking, and doing volunteer activities.
