The Polyclinic Nephrology department will add two providers to our outpatient clinics in the Seattle area – Dr. Muniba Javed and Dr. Michael Tekeste.

The addition of Dr. Tekeste and Dr. Javed will bring additional access for patients looking for comprehensive kidney care,” said Bruce O’Neill, MD, Polyclinic nephrologist and section chief. “Both providers will see patients in several local hospitals and multiple Polyclinic locations to give our patients more options for dedicated nephrology services in the Seattle area.”

Dr. Muniba Javed started at The Polyclinic in September and is available for appointments at Madison Center. She comes to The Polyclinic from the University of Washington School of Medicine, where she completed her residency through the WWAMI program and her fellowship training in nephrology. “I strive to nurture a friendly and supportive environment while ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care,” said Dr. Javed.

Her clinical interests are dialysis, including home modalities; all stages of chronic kidney disease; glomerulonephritis, electrolyte disturbances, onco-nephrology, and utilizing technology in patient care. She is fluent in English, Urdu, Hindi and Punjabi.

Dr. Michael Tekeste has been with The Polyclinic since October 2018 but has primarily focused on inpatient and dialysis care. He has started seeing patients at our Edmonds Pavilion and Northgate Plaza locations and is available for appointments.

"I enjoy listening to my patients, providing them with information about their medical conditions and treatment options,” said Dr. Tekeste. “I encourage patients to participate in their care and decision making regarding treatment plans."

Dr. Tekeste’s clinical interests include acute kidney failure, chronic kidney disease, glomerulonephritis, and electrolyte disorders. He also speaks Amharic.
