From an early age, Polyclinic pediatrician, Dr. Eric Burlingame, developed a good relationship with his orthopedic surgeon. "I broke both my arms a few times as a child and remember fondly of how healthy my orthopedist kept me," he said. "I knew early on I wanted to become a doctor."

Medical Career

Dr. Burlingame earned his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pa., and completed his pediatric residency at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, Pa. During his collegiate years, Dr. Burlingame volunteered with the U.S. Peace Corps in West Africa, which played a big role in his medical career. “My experience there really pushed me to continue my pursuit of medicine,” he said.

Before joining The Polyclinic, Dr. Burlingame spent three years at the Yakima Valley Farm Worker’s Clinic and Toppenish Community Hospital where he supervised residents from Seattle Children’s on their rural community health rotations.

Dr. Burlingame talks about his inspirations, clinical interests and his love of building relationships with patients and families.

Building Relationships

As a pediatrician, Dr. Burlingame enjoys building relationships with children and families. "I love to partner with children, adolescents and families by listening and sharing information and resources to enable them to take charge of their own health," he said. "I think it's an honor to be part of a child's journey as they grow and develop and build that connection with the patient and family."

Outside of work, Dr. Burlingame enjoys hiking, gardening, running, swimming, and cycling.
