Senior reviewing medication

We’ve teamed up with Connexion Insurance Solutions to provide you answers to some of the frequently-asked-questions patients ask about Medicare. Each month we’ll publish an article or series of questions that are commonly asked about Medicare.

Can a discount card for prescriptions, given to me by my doctor, be used if I am on Medicare and enrolled in Part D/PDP?

There are many different types of prescription discount programs. Read the program rules and restrictions to find out if you qualify to receive a discount. When a discount is offered by a manufacturer for a specific drug, being on Medicare, or receiving federal assistance, may disqualify you from getting the discount.

If I utilize mail order for my prescription drugs, but plan on traveling for longer periods of time, what should I do?

Each plan and each mail order pharmacy has different procedures by which you can receive your prescriptions while traveling. Be sure to call your pharmacy to find out their particular procedure as early as possible before traveling.
