“I decided to become a physician because I enjoy working with people and I love science.” -- Dr. Ronald O. Watson
The Polyclinic Internal Medicine Department welcomes Dr. Ronald O. Watson to our Madison Center location.
Dr. Watson earned his medical degree at the University of Alabama School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine. Before joining The Polyclinic, Dr. Watson spent 29 years in practice at Swedish Medical Group West Seattle and served as its medical director for 15 years.
“I decided to become a physician because I enjoy working with people and I love science,” Dr. Watson shares. “Reading about the latest, best ideas to help patients energizes me. Growing up, I admired my uncle, a devoted, hard-working rural doctor, and during college, I worked with a wise, respected internal medicine doctor who always emphasized that a doctor’s main job is to listen to his patients. I try to emulate these two mentors.”
Dr. Watson provides comprehensive primary care to adults. He has a special interest in preventive medicine and helping patients maintain good physical and mental health, including managing chronic conditions such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, anxiety and depression. He also enjoys sports medicine.
Dr. Watson likes to stay active and enjoys a wide range of sports including running, bicycling, swimming, and Nordic skiing. He loves the outdoors and spends a lot of time gardening, hiking, and boating. On the dark rainy days, he enjoys a good book. He says his best days are spent with his wife and three adult children; one shares his passion for medicine and attends medical school at the University of Washington.
